Cuéntanos un poco sobre el viaje hacia el Lago Atitlán desde Comalapa. Qué tal ir en lancha, el hotel, quienes fueran a la conferencia, el lago, etc.

Salimos de Comalapa el sábado 5 de junio a las 5am hacia Panajachel (Profe Werner, Seño Mayra, Harold y yo) con un viaje de 2 horas, desayudamos allí a la vista del lago previo a la conferencia, el cual daría inicio a las 8:30 am., en Santa Cruz la Laguna.
Abordamos una lancha para dirigirnos hacia Santa Cruz la Laguna (tiempo de viaje 10 minutos aproximadamente) toda una experiencia; el agua, la brisa, el entorno rodeado de volcanes y montañas, un lugar paradisiaco. En Santa Cruz la Laguna nos hospedamos en Hotel Isla Verde, un lugar con habitaciones amplias, pero sobre todo rodeado de la naturaleza.
Cuéntanos un poco sobre la conferencia en general, cómo se involucraron en esta conferencia, la temática, propósito.
La conferencia es a nivel centroamericano y del caribe, para esta 2da. Edición 2,021 y pese a las dificultades y restricciones que la pandemia del Covid-19 implica, se realizó de forma virtual y presencial con la participación de diferentes organizaciones emprendedoras y comprometidas con el cuidado del medioambiente impulsoras de proyectos auto sostenibles y amigables con el ecosistema.
Todos los participantes y ponentes con un mismo propósito “Compartir nuevas y revolucionarias formas de contribuir en la preservación y reducción en la contaminación de los recursos naturales por medio de proyectos que tienen como base la educación.

¿Cuál fue la participación de parte de CETC en la conferencia?
Como Hero School o CETC una institución conocida en San Juan Comalapa como la “Escuela de Llantas” y por el diseño arquitectónico de todos los edificios o aulas fuera de lo común. Se dio a conocer la forma revolucionaria de construir utilizando materiales reciclables tales como; botellas de vidrio y plástico, basura seleccionada, neumáticos, etc., y la realización anual de proyectos tales como; estufas mejoradas, tinacos (depósitos de agua), muros de contención y letrinas aboneras, proyectos que son realizados por los estudiantes, docentes y voluntarios, con el objetivo de que los estudiantes puedan aplicar la enseñanza y aprendizaje de las diferentes áreas curriculares creando estos proyectos sustentables.
Qué tal la experiencia de poder conocer diferentes proyectos ecológicos en Guatemala?

Todos escuchamos y vemos por todas las vías de información posible, conferencias de ciencia, motivación, superación personal, negocios etc., pero difícilmente encontramos conferencias enfocadas a desarrollar proyectos auto sostenibles y amigables con el ecosistema por medio de la educación y es motivador saber que existen personas y organizaciones que están haciendo cosas diferentes para frenar la contaminación irreversible de nuestros recursos, personas desinteresadas y sin fines de lucro, muchos de ellos educadores y científicos.
Una cosa es seguro, llegamos a este mundo para cuidarlo y mejorarlo lo cual se consigue con el ejemplo, la acción, menos plástico, menos uso de químicos contaminantes, etc.

Hubo muchas, pero de la más memorables fue conocer a la organizadora Elisa toda una líder, no te imaginas todo el trabajo que se lleva el reunir a tantas personas y organizaciones con fines comunes, los cuales están allí en algún lugar de este planeta contribuyendo a reducir la contaminación de nuestros recursos por medio de la educación.
Hay mucho por hacer todavía y solo si nos unimos podemos lograr cosas maravillosas.
Algo que aprendiste, alguna lección que quisieras compartir.
Aprendí que debemos de detenernos un momento y preguntarnos: ¿qué tanto contaminamos nuestro entorno?

Y ponernos en acción, contaminar menos, ¡vamos que al principio es difícil, pero con un poco de esfuerzo lo podemos lograr; ¡es por ti, por mí, por todos, por los que vendrán!

(EN) Tell us a little bit about the trip to Lake Atitlan from Comalapa.
We left Comalapa on Saturday, June 5 at 5am towards Panajachel (Profe Werner, Seño Mayra, Harold and I). After a 2-hour trip, we meet to get a good look at the lake before the conference, which would start at 8:30 am in Santa Cruz la Laguna.
Santa Cruz la Laguna (travel time approximately 10 minutes) is a whole experience; the water, the breeze, the environment surrounded by volcanoes and mountains. In other words: Paradise.
In Santa Cruz la Laguna we stayed at Hotel Isla Verde, a place with spacious rooms, but above all surrounded by nature.

Tell us about the conference, how LWH became involved, the theme, purpose.
The conference is at the Central American and Caribbean level. This year it celebrated its second issue, and despite the difficulties and restrictions that the pandemic implies, it was carried out in a blended way, with virtual and face-to-face way with the participation of different entrepreneurial organizations and committed to the care of the environment driving self-sustaining and eco-friendly projects.
All participants and speakers with the same purpose "To share new and revolutionary ways to contribute to the preservation and reduction of pollution of natural resources through projects based on education.”
What was the participation of Hero School at the conference?
We explained how at Hero School, or CETC an institution known in San Juan Comalapa as the "School of Tires" and for the architectural design of all buildings or classrooms out of the ordinary. The revolutionary way of building using recyclable materials such as glass and plastic bottles, selected garbage, tires, etc., and the annual realization of projects such as; improved stoves, water tanks (water tanks), retaining walls and composting latrines, projects that are carried out by students, teachers and volunteers, with the objective that students can apply the teaching and learning of the different curricular areas creating these sustainable projects.
During the Conference, Harold, one of our high school graduates, performed a rap he wrote about the environment and the need to take action.

Tell us about the experience of learning about different ecological projects in Guatemala.
We have been looking through every possible avenue of information, science conferences, motivation, self-improvement, businesses etc… but we hardly find conferences focused on developing self-sustainable and eco-friendly projects through education and it is motivating to know that there are people and organizations that are doing different things to slow down the irreversible pollution of our resources, disinterested and not-for-profit people, many of them educators and scientists.
One thing is for sure,
we come to this world to take care of it and improve it, which is achieved by example, action, less plastic, less use of polluting chemicals, and more.

What was your favorite experience?
There were many amazing presenters, but the most memorable one was to meet the organizer Elisa, one of the conference leaders. You can’t imagine all the work that goes into bringing together so many people and organizations with common purposes, which are on this planet contributing to reducing the pollution of our resources through education.
There is still much to do and only if we unite can we achieve wonderful things.
Something that you learned, a lesson that you would like to share.
I learned that we have to stop for a moment and ask ourselves: how much do we pollute our environment? And to put ourselves in action, to pollute less, we go that at the beginning it is difficult, but with a little effort we can achieve it; it is for you, for me, for all, for those who will come!
Lesson: Have you ever wondered what would you do if one day you wake up and you realize that water no longer exists?
