Attending the Green Building Academy

“For several years I had felt the need to move from a city to a community that was self-sustaining. Since building an ecovillage is not an easy task, I began to look for courses, workshops where I could learn and put into practice the exercise of being a community.

That's when I found that Long Way Home offered the Green Building Academy and I was very moved by the fact that it fit perfectly with the eco-building profile, with different types of methods and materials; I liked that they already had an active primary and secondary school in the community and that the facilities are made with garbage materials, reusing them and giving them a new cycle.

After the GBA I was able to feel more confident to build and take further steps in our ecovillage (Ashwagandha).

I now feel the commitment and enthusiasm to share these methods and alternative ways of sustainable construction to everyone!”

A warm welcome back to Edson, July 2022 GBA attendee now returning as an intern for March 2023 GBA! We are so excited to have Edson back on campus and diving into sustainable living with us!

“Hola! Te envío el pequeño resumen de mi experiencia, o testimonio.

Durante varios años había sentido la necesidad de moverme de una ciudad a una comunidad que fuese autosustentable. Como construir una ecoaldea no es tarea sencilla, empecé a buscar cursos, talleres dónde poder aprender y poner en práctica el ejercicio de ser una comunidad.

Entonces fue cuando encontré que Long Way Home ofrecía la Academia de Construcción Verde y me movió mucho el hecho de que encajara perfecto con el perfil de eco-construcción, con diferentes tipos de métodos y materiales; me gustó que tuviesen ya una escuela primaria y secundaria activa en la comunidad y que las instalaciones están hechas con materiales de la basura reutilizándolos y dándole un nuevo ciclo.

Después del GBA pude sentirme más seguro de construir y dar pasos más avanzados en la nuestra ecoaldea (Ashwagandha). 

Siento ahora el compromiso y entusiasmo de compartir estos métodos y maneras alternativas de construcción sustentable a todxs!”
