Campus
The campus sits upon an 85,000 sq ft strip of land located on a hill in the Southwest of San Juan Comalapa, Guatemala. Still under construction, the site presents several classrooms, offices, homes, a library, and a cafeteria, made of repurposed materials such as earthbags, cob, recycled bottles filled with trash, and tires. Cisterns fed by roof rainwater catchment systems supply water to the sinks and showers surrounding the dry-compost latrines. Encompassing the campus sit 2000 ft of retaining walls made of reused tires filled with dirt from excavation of the site. The campus is actively used as a school for grades K-11, as well as a part-time home for volunteers and staff to work on-site alongside the builders.
