Donations support Long Way Home in keeping Hero School open. Everything we do is to help provide education for sustainable development to the youth of Comalapa, Guatemala through top tier, local teachers working form highly reviewed curriculum. People support in all ways, shapes, and forms. For some it is a monthly donation, others it is hosting a fundraiser. Ways to fundraise include:

• Asking for donations on social media and at events (i.e. your birthday!)

• Speaking on our behalf to groups in your community (think Rotary, Kiwanis, etc.)

• A good old fashion car wash or yard sale!

• Buying our merch and distributing it for donation in your network (we have conscious designed t-shirts, jackets, bags, and post cards)

• Talking about our work to those you know. Maybe one of them is interested in volunteering or able to donate!

• Do you or friends have an Etsy shop or farmers market stand? Consider donating a portion of profits from an item to us. We would also be happy to help promote it!

• Encourage your friends, co-workers, religious group, or more to take a group trip to see us in Guatemala trip with you!

Our ongoing expense includes things like teacher salaries, construction to build the school, supplies expenses like markers and books, and bills like internet and lights. You can see more in our financial reports or below on this page.

We had 144 students enrolled in 2023. When we break the budget down it works out to about $25 per student per month. This includes the overhead to keep the school running and teacher salaries.
